Memos: Missed the Window of Trendiness Edition

  • Memo to Mr. Sub: In the time it takes to conceive and shoot a television ad with a Napoleon-Dynamite-alike character, the backlash will inevitably have swallowed whole the humour in copying the movie's awkward dialogue.

  • Memo to History Television: Don't let the name fool you, 2001: A Space Odyssey is not a historical film.

  • Memo to The Discovery Channel: You are hurting the world by showing silly shows about pie-in-the-sky construction projects that don't exist yet and shows that give credit to tin foil hat-wearing 'inventors' who insist that the government is trying to stop their perpetual motion machines. While not nearly as blatantly counter to your channel's name as The Learning Channel, the creation of confusion in your audience where they don't know what is true and what is made up will do more harm than 10 home decorating shows.

  • Memo to CNN: Paula Zahn can't possibly tell us anything more about the Pope. Stop.
