Fuckers. Odd thing is I've noticed less patrols lately. Hmmmm, we'll see if that picks up after this annoucement. Nothin like a good old fashioned cash grab. Remember kids, play nice and the big man won't take away your toys.

As they say, if you don't do anything illegal you don't have anything to worry about. As someone who has to drive the highway regularly with an 8-year-old in the backseat of my tiny echo I'd by happy to see some of the lunatic drivers out there fined big time.

Now as long as they haven't raised the fine for public nudity...I have a budget I have to stick too! ;)

The nuclear plant analogy is a good one. You don't operate a nuke plant at the maximum power level, you account for all possible things that can go wrong, and set a reasonable limit to account for all conditions.

Similarly, while there are some people who can safely drive on a highway going a certain speed, it may not be the same for all drivers. Again, a technical analysis may produce a slightly different figure than the one that has been used for a few decades, but the opinion of an automotive magazine is, by nature, biased towards driving enthusiasts and not urban planners.

Also, speed limits are mostly for the 18-wheel truck drivers, who, if they could, would drive 140km/h for 16 hours a day hopped up on caffeine and amphetamines.
