Lay off the weed. I'd rather not be dead from you staring at your hands. Worrying about drunkards is enough for me.

The trouble with weed is that it affects every individual differently. With alcohol you know exactly what will happen to the brain when the blood alcohol level is at x. But with weed, some people smoke it and are actually able to concentrate better (this may or may not include ability to react to external stimuli so it isn't a defense of driving while high by any means, I am mostly referring to ability to stay focused on a single task) while others just fall right to sleep.

The trouble right now is that there are no clear laws on the books, so it's hard to charge people with traffic-related laws if they have obtained a legal right to smoke pot for medical reasons.

If they do go ahead with wider legalization it will be something that will need to be addressed. The unpredictability with wihch it affects different people is one of the gotchas with weed, to be sure.

Just testing the code I changed so that there's a separator between the comment items. Operation blog de-uglification continues.

I acquiesce to Mr. Caravella.

Dope and drink yourselves silly - just stay off the roads.

there's a running clock on my next speeding ticket.Just sayin'.

Referring to Al's comment. Of course I speed, I break the law daily, a good portion of the driving public does too. I have no problem with that. The difference is I have my wits about me (for the most part) when I'm doing it.

Also, I'd like to introduce you to my friend Mr. Hyperbole.

Not endorsing anything, but just for another perspective: Marijuana does not cause reckless driving.

Now, since speeding is, by definition, reckless.. well.. just sayin'.

"Story not found"

Also. Bullhonkey.

Sign says 110. You're going 110. Your tires are also bald and it's raining like a mofo. You have cruise on. Reckless.

hmm.. blogger must have cut it off. Anyway, 30 seconds with google will find many of the same. But I was just stirring up shit anyway.. One question, though, is that it's well knwon that a lot of people do smoke weed, but when was the last time you heard about an accident caused by such an individual?

Alcohol use is much much more prevalent, plus easier to access.

"That's right, people high on marijuana cause fewer crashes than those who are completely sober."

Statistics can be skewed quite easily. 42% of people know that.

"A recent rash of incidents points to a growing problem: In March of this year, a Wisconsin truck driver with marijuana-and no alcohol-in his system slammed into a car driven by an 18-year-old woman, split it in two, and killed the driver. This last summer, a teenager in the same state smashed a car into a house after taking a prescription painkiller."

Alcohol use is greater hence more reports of accidents. Either way, you can argue that putting a drug into your system makes you better than a sober driver all ya want. I say bullplop.

The former love of my life smoked weed. She was all kinds of fucked up. Attentive my ass.
